The Accord Party has affirmed the lawmaker representing Ede Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Salam, as its consensus candidate ahead of the 2026 House of Representatives election.

The affirmation took place during the party’s primary election held at Western Sun Hotel, Ede, on Friday, where party leaders, delegates and supporters unanimously endorsed Salam for another term in the National Assembly.

In his welcome address, the Publicity Secretary of the Accord Party and representative of the National Chairman, Ambassador Joseph Omorogbe, appreciated party members for their commitment and support towards the continuity of Salam’s representation.

He stated that the primary election would once again make history with Salam emerging as the candidate of the party for Ede Federal Constituency.

“Today, Hon. Bamidele Salam will write history again as the candidate of the Accord Party in Ede Federal Constituency after this primary election,” he said.

He added that the people of the constituency were satisfied with Salam’s performance and had expressed their desire for continuity, urging residents and party faithful to rally support for his re-election.

Speaking on the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, the party chieftain expressed confidence in the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing his emergence in the Accord Party as a major advantage to both Osun State and Nigeria.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke’s emergence is a plus to Osun and Nigeria at large. I believe he is going to win, and nobody can stop it. We have mapped out our strategy, and by the time we execute it, Ademola Adeleke will emerge victorious,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Bamidele Salam appreciated the national leadership of the party, the state executive represented by Alhaji Hamidu Olagoke, the Independent National Electoral Commission officers, and party delegates for affirming him as the party’s candidate.

He said he accepted the nomination wholeheartedly and promised not to disappoint the party and the people of Ede Federal Constituency.

Salam urged party members and residents to support Governor Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming governorship election, noting that the governor deserved another term to continue the developmental strides of his administration.

“This mandate is another call to service. We are ready to continue from where we stopped in the 10th Assembly by facilitating more development projects, social amenities and legislative interventions that will create jobs and provide opportunities for youth engagement,” he said.

The lawmaker described his emergence as both challenging and encouraging, adding that he was deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in him by the people of the constituency.

He also appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke for his continued support and encouragement, expressing optimism that the governor would secure a second term in office.

According to him, more political figures and supporters are expected to join the Accord Party in the coming days to strengthen the campaign for Adeleke’s re-election.

One of the constituents, Eyitayo Malakai, commended Salam’s performance, describing him as one of the best representatives Ede Federal Constituency and Osun State had ever produced.

“We have never had a representative like Hon. Bamidele Salam before, not only in Ede Federal Constituency but in the whole of Osun State. With what he has done and what he is still doing, I strongly believe he will emerge victorious again because our leaders have agreed to support him,” she said.

Also speaking, the Accord Party leader in Osun State, Elder Sunday Akanfe Atidada, thanked God for the success of the primary election and called on party members to remain united and continue supporting Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the governorship election.
