The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has claimed that an internal political assessment allegedly conducted within the ranks of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has projected a decisive victory for Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson of the council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign organisation said the assessment was reportedly carried out by independent election and voter-behaviour analysts engaged to examine the political climate, governance perception, voter psychology, and electoral realities across Osun State.
According to the council, the report concluded that Governor Adeleke currently enjoys widespread public acceptance across major demographic and political groups in the state, including civil servants, pensioners, market women, artisans, transport workers, youths, students, professionals, and grassroots stakeholders.
TICC alleged that the assessment projected that Adeleke commands more than 72 per cent public support ahead of the opposition APC and its candidate, adding that the figure could still rise as the election draws closer.
The council further claimed that the report advised some APC leaders against heavy financial spending on the election, allegedly citing persistent public dissatisfaction with the party and growing support for the governor due to what it described as visible governance achievements.
According to the statement, the assessment reportedly acknowledged that the Adeleke administration has reshaped public perception through infrastructure projects, payment of salary arrears, workers’ welfare initiatives, improvements in education and healthcare, agricultural interventions, rural development programmes, and prudent management of state resources.
TICC also stated that the report suggested many residents of Osun now view Adeleke as being more connected to the realities of ordinary citizens than the APC, which it said is still grappling with the perception of its past administration.
The campaign council argued that the alleged findings may be responsible for what it described as growing panic and desperation within the opposition party.
It accused some APC members of allegedly resorting to propaganda, political blackmail, violence, vandalism, and other actions capable of disrupting public peace in the state.
The statement further alleged that reports had emerged from some local government areas involving attacks on campaign materials, politically motivated violence, destruction of property, and misinformation campaigns aimed at creating tension within the political environment.
Despite the accusations, the council maintained that Governor Adeleke remains focused on governance and service delivery, insisting that ongoing development projects across the state continue to strengthen public confidence in his administration.
TICC called on security agencies, election observers, civil society groups, and other democratic stakeholders to closely monitor political activities in the state to ensure peace and stability ahead of the election.
“The people of Osun are politically conscious and capable of distinguishing between governance and propaganda,” the statement read.
It added that residents of the state would continue to defend democracy peacefully and lawfully through the ballot box.
