Former England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has advise new England manager Thomas Tuchel to find a way of getting Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer fit into his Three Lions team.
According to Manchester United legend, Palmer has to be playing regularly for three lions because he can deal with pressure.
Insight Media reported that Tuchel was appointed last October as a replacement for Gareth Southgate, but the former Chelsea manager did not begin his new role until the start of the new Year 2025.
Southgate was heavily criticised last year for using Palmer sparingly in his team especially during the Euro 2024
Palmer 22, was reduced to a bit-part role that saw him fail to start a single game en route to the 2024 European Cup final.
“Chelsea star, Cole Palmer has to play for England. I can testify to his confidence, as you can see it – he looks like someone who [can deal with] the pressure,” Rooney told The Overlap.
“Most teams now are playing with a front five, and the wide man becomes a number 10. You are defending from a wide position, but in possession, you are actually a number 10.
“It’s not as structured as it was [at Manchester United] with Beckham on one side and Giggs on the left, and they are staying there out wide.”
Tuchel will start his England career with the 2026 World Cup qualifying match in March with two games against Albania and Latvia
