Vice President Kashim Shettima has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to revitalising the education sector, assuring that both public and private sector collaboration will be mobilised to support key institutions like the University of Ibadan.
Shettima made this known on Friday evening while receiving a delegation from the University of Ibadan management, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, on a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
During the visit, the Vice President was honoured with the University’s highest alumni recognition tagged “UI at 75 Ambassador Plenipotentiary” in celebration of the institution’s 75th anniversary.
Expressing gratitude, Shettima described the honour as deeply cherished, noting the University of Ibadan’s longstanding reputation as a leading citadel of learning in Nigeria and West Africa.
“Ibadan is undoubtedly the greatest citadel of learning in this country and in the West African sub-region. In our time, we had students from South Africa, Namibia, and even the Caribbean,” he recalled.
He reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains fully committed to repositioning Nigeria’s education sector, placing priority on innovation, infrastructure, and institutional excellence.
