Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for the transfer of Eberechi Eze in a deal worth £60 million. Club chairman Daniel Levy is said to have spearheaded the negotiations, ensuring manager Thomas Frank secures a creative reinforcement following James Maddison’s season-ending ACL injury.
Eze, 27, is viewed as the ideal midfielder to bring flair and balance to Spurs’ attack. His move, however, still hinges on Palace finding a replacement before the window closes.
Eze has spent five years at Selhurst Park, but with his £68m release clause expiring last week, he opted for a fresh challenge. The England international featured in Palace’s goalless draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where he lingered to applaud the travelling supporters, an apparent farewell gesture.
Palace have already lined up potential replacements, with Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss and Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis on their radar. However, Leicester’s valuation of El Khannouss, believed to be around £30m, could complicate negotiations.
While Eze continues to train with Oliver Glasner’s side, he may still feature in Palace’s UEFA Conference League play-off against Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad on Thursday, depending on how quickly the transfer is finalized.
