Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has firmly rejected a renewed call for a DNA test from a 12-year-old girl, Mitchelle Anuoluwapo, who claims to be his daughter, this reigniting a long-running paternity controversy.
The girl took to Instagram on Thursday to make a public and emotional appeal to the singer, asking for a DNA test to confirm her identity. In her post, Mitchelle described herself as Davido’s “oldest daughter” and spoke openly about the emotional and psychological struggles she said she has endured over the years.
According to her, she has faced bullying since the age of six, with classmates mocking her claims that the music star is her father. She said the experience took a toll on her mental health and required professional medical support.
“This year I become a teenager,” she wrote. “As I grow older, I want to establish my identity. I was bullied in school since I was six years old and cried home daily when other students laughed at me for saying my father was David Adeleke.”
Mitchelle added that her focus has remained on her education despite the challenges and appealed directly to Davido to grant her request for a DNA test, describing it as the right step toward closure and self-identity. She also thanked Nigerians who, she said, had offered her emotional support over the past seven years.
However, Davido responded sharply, insisting that the matter had already been conclusively resolved. Commenting under her Instagram post and later on X (formerly Twitter), the singer stated that he had undergone five separate DNA tests at different medical facilities, all of which returned negative results.
“I’ve taken five DNA tests and all is negative. I am not your father,” he wrote, adding that he had never had a relationship with the girl’s mother outside of the DNA testing process.
The singer expressed frustration over the continued claims, describing the situation as distressing and unnecessary. He further alleged that the girl’s mother was misleading her and suggested that legal action might be taken to put an end to the matter.
Davido maintained that this would be the final time he would address the issue publicly, reiterating that the DNA tests conducted at multiple hospitals had all confirmed the same outcome.
“This is the last time I’m speaking on this,” he said, stressing that the claims were unfounded and that he wished to move on.
