The Senate of Bayero University Kano has approved the expulsion of 171 students for presenting falsified admission credentials.

The decision was reached during the institution’s 433rd Senate meeting held on March 4, 2026, following the outcome of an investigation by its Committee on Entry Qualification Irregularities.

According to a statement released in the university’s weekly bulletin, the affected students were found guilty of submitting fake documents during the admission process, a violation of the institution’s academic regulations.

The university noted that the offence contravenes its rules on examinations and academic conduct, which prescribe expulsion as the penalty for such misconduct. It added that the students cut across different faculties and academic levels.

In a related development, the Senate also approved the expulsion of a Civil Engineering student, Yusuf Muhammad Sani, over his alleged involvement in physically assaulting invigilators during an examination. The incident was said to have disrupted the conduct of the exam and breached the university’s disciplinary code.

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and discipline, stressing that it would continue to enforce strict measures against any form of misconduct.

The university management further warned that the action serves as a strong signal to both current and prospective students that it has zero tolerance for academic fraud and indiscipline.
