Nigerian singer Korede Bello has responded to fans questioning his recent absence from the public eye.
In a reflective post on Instagram over the weekend, accompanied by Carlos Cipa’s instrumental piece The Place Where They Go, the artist opened up about his journey of self-discovery and the importance of inner peace.
Addressing the frequent question, “Where have you been?” Korede shared, “Whenever I hear or see comments like ‘Where have you been?’ I’m usually kind of surprised. Why? Because I’ve been here all along, with me, myself, and I.”
He emphasized the value of self-awareness over seeking validation from others, stating, “I’m grateful that I don’t have to ask myself ‘Korede, where are you?’ It’s better for the world to ask ‘Where have you been?’ than for you to ask yourself ‘Who am I? Where am I?’”
Reflecting on the hidden challenges of fame, Korede added, “You can be extremely rich and famous but still be lost inside your mind. I’ve come to realize that the more you connect with yourself, the less the world connects with you.”
The ‘Godwin’ singer acknowledged that this deep self-reflection often results in noticeable changes in one’s perspective and behavior.
“You think differently, you act differently because you are different. People might ask, ‘Who do you think you are?’ But this hero’s journey is so necessary, because you can’t truly stand out until you stand out and become outstanding,” he said.
