A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has ratified the appointment of a 13-member caretaker committee, with Tanimu Turaki (SAN) named as chairman.
The decision was reached on Monday during the group’s 103rd National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja.
The motion for the committee’s approval was moved by Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, and seconded by an ex officio member of the party, Clement Fagboyede.
Also named in the caretaker committee is Taofeek Arapaja, who will serve as National Secretary. Other members include Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.
The development confirms earlier indications that the Makinde-led faction would formally unveil Turaki to head the committee as part of ongoing moves to address internal challenges within the party.
