The Ikirun College of Health Technology, Ikirun, Osun State, has hosted a delegation from the National Board for Technical Education as part of efforts to secure approval for its proposed National Diploma programme in Health Education and Promotion.
The inspection team, led by Mr. Abdullahi Musa, was received by the Rector and Chief Executive of the institution, Salaudeen Oyewale, alongside members of the management and other stakeholders.
The exercise, which is a key requirement for programme accreditation, involved a comprehensive assessment of the college’s human and material resources. Facilities inspected included classrooms, laboratories, and other instructional infrastructure, as well as a review of curriculum compliance and staffing capacity.
Speaking during the visit, Oyewale expressed appreciation to the NBTE for its continued support towards the development of technical and vocational education in the country.
He said the institution remained committed to academic excellence, noting that the proposed programme aligns with national priorities in preventive healthcare and community-based interventions.
“The introduction of the ND in Health Education and Promotion is both timely and strategic. It reflects our resolve to produce skilled health professionals capable of addressing emerging public health challenges,” he said.
The rector also assured the visiting team of the college’s commitment to maintaining quality standards and adhering strictly to regulatory guidelines.
Representing the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Idris Muhammed Bugaje, the team lead, Abdullahi Musa, commended the institution’s management for its level of preparedness and forward-looking approach.
He noted that the college had demonstrated a clear vision for growth and expansion, particularly in developing programmes that respond to societal health needs. Musa described the level of organisation, documentation, and infrastructure observed during the inspection as impressive.
He, however, urged the management to sustain the tempo by investing in staff development, upgrading facilities, and adopting innovative teaching methods to ensure the production of globally competitive graduates.
The inspection marks a significant step towards the full accreditation of the programme, as the institution continues to strengthen its position in training competent health professionals equipped to meet evolving healthcare demands.
